The purpose of the Multimedia Centre is to serve the resource needs of The Manitoba School for the Deaf staff, students, parents, and departmental consultants. The Teachers of the Deaf Network and the public have access to special materials related to deaf education. The Multimedia Centre comprises a main collection of approximately ten thousand books and journals; a Professional Resource Centre which holds a collection of several thousand books, journals, and software programs, the Head End Room which houses the Crestron media retrieval system stocked with several hundred videotapes, and a Deaf Heritage collection. It also has available four multimedia computers, a video previewing centre, a video editing suite and an equipment room.
Multimedia Centre Procedure Guidelines: Loan Periods and LimitsStudents:Students may borrow books and magazines from the main collection for 14 days. The loan limit for grades K-4 is three items, and for grades 5-12 five items.
Parents:Parents have two options : 1) Staff can borrow on behalf of parents upon request. 2) Parents may register as a borrower The loan limit is three videotapes and five books for 21 days.
Educators and Professionals in Deaf Education:Materials related to deaf education, may be borrowed for up to 14 days. The loan limit is three videotapes and five books. *
*NOTE Due to limited copies and copyrights, some restrictions may apply. Individual registrations are required. This may be done in person, by phone, by mail, by fax or e-mail. This information will remain confidential.
